Day 233: Do what feels right

Today I did two things I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time.

I deleted people off Facebook that I’ve realized aren’t/weren’t really friends….and I deleted old photos that no longer serve me.

These may sound like trivial things to do, but for me they weren’t.  I don’t Facebook friend everyone I meet, contrary to what it might look like.  I try to only invite or accept people that I think have the potential to improve my life…either through a genuine friendship…reading their posts…being inspired…whatever it is, it needs to add value.  But once you’re in, it’s hard for me to kick you out.  I’m like that with real-life friendships and that carried over to my virtual friendships on Facebook.

It struck me the other night, that there were a handful of people that I thought I was close to…people I would have called “friend”, but they hadn’t liked or commented on anything on my page in months, including my engagement.

Um….ok, I get missing an occasional post but an engagement is kinda a big deal.  Clearly their lives are busy enough that they don’t have time for Facebook, right?…oh, not true…most posted during that time.  Which tells me, we weren’t really the friends I thought we were.  And that’s fine.  Things change. People change.  I’ve changed…and it feels good to change.

Plus, I don’t like the idea of creepers.  We all do it from time to time on Facebook…hell, I do it.  But I usually take the time to “like” a few things while I’m snooping around.  If I don’t, that’s a sure sign that I don’t need to be on your page — or you on mine — so we’re aren’t going to be “connected” anymore.

On the picture front, I’m not sure why I still had some of the photos I did.  I’d deleted a lot months back but I’ll be honest…they sat in my trash.

Not really deleted until today.  Gone…buh-bye.  You didn’t truly serve me then and you certainly aren’t serving me now.

So today I did two things that finally felt right to do. It was time.  I was ready. There’s no need to force stuff but when it feels right, you know…and that’s when it’s time to take action.
